The third victim of the helicopter that crashed on Friday into a residential building in Lagos State has passed on.

Spokesperson for the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) Tunji Oketunmbi confirmed the development to PUNCH on Friday evening.

“I confirm to you that the third person has died,” he said.

The third victim died after being taken into the Intensive Care Unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

This means all three crew members in the helicopter belonging to Quorum Aviation are dead.

The Bell 206-3 chopper with registration number 5N-BQW had taken off from Port Harcourt.

The identities of the crew members have not been confirmed.

However, Quorum Aviation had confirmed that those involved in the accident are its crew members.

“We have been made to understand that nobody in the building, nor in the vicinity was injured for which we are grateful,” the company said in a statement.

“In accordance with aviation regulations, the AIB has taken over the investigation process. We hereby ask members of the public to await the outcome of the investigation.

“We hereby express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the crew who lost their loved ones in this tragic accident.”
