Harvard University honours Kuku

Kingsley KukuFormer Special Adviser on Niger Delta and Chairman, Presidential Amnesty Programme, Hon. Kingsley Kuku, is to be inducted as a member of Harvard University’s distinguished International Economic Alliance (IEA).

IEA is a non-partisan, independent non-profit organization dedicated to furthering global trade, development, investment and advancing business relations among nations.

The organisation was conceived at Harvard University in 2004 and serves as an important source of knowledge, facilitator of relationships, and catalyst for new business opportunities around the world.

The induction ceremony will take place on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the university in Cambridge, Massachusetts in the United States.

Kuku is expected to make a presentation to cover the topic “Global Peace Initiatives”   before IEA members, university faculty members, private sector leaders and civil society groups.

A letter jointly signed by the former United States Ambassador to seven countries and Under-Secretary of State, Thomas R. Pickering, and the IEA Founding Director, Van McCormick, stated: “The format for the formal address will be a presentation on global peace initiatives and your personal experience working on such initiatives as a senior presidential advisor and as the former head of Nigeria’s federal government amnesty program.

“IEA will also present you with an official letter of induction into the International Economic Alliance membership consisting of distinguished members.”

They include co-chairs of the Advisory Board, Amb. Thomas Pickering, and the Chairman, US Economic Recovery Advisory Board and former Chairman, US Federal Reserve Board, Paul A. Volcker.

Others are Rawi Abdelal, Professor, Harvard Business School; Craig Barrett, former Chairman & CEO, Intel Corporation; Barbara Barrett, a former US Ambassador to Finland; Alexander Braverman, former President of the Russian Marketing Association and Director of the Federal Fund for the Promotion of Housing Construction Development.

The membership also includes Amb. James Collins, Director, Russia and Eurasia, Carnegie Endowment and former US Ambassador to Russia as well as several Harvard University professors, CEOs of blue chip companies and American policy advisors.

Kuku was in May conferred with the Honorary Citizenship of the State of Georgia as well as a Commendation Award by the Black Caucus of the state’s legislature.
