Kaduna State first lady Hadiza El-Rufai on Friday said she is unable to join the #EndSARS protest due to political affiliation.

Mrs El-Rufai stated this on Friday while responding to a Twitter user who urged her to be part of the clamour against the controversial Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force.

The Twitter user @bendunu had written: “We are grateful for ur time and teachings. But, we are not in class today. We need to #EndSARSandPoliceBrutality. The youths are being killed, even amidst our suffering from political leaders. Lend your voice ma’am.”

The first lady responded: “Fair enough. I wish I could lend my voice but..”

She completed her statement in another tweet: “Politically exposed too. Though through no choice of mine.”

Mrs El-Rufai’s husband Nasir El-Rufai is a member of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).

Protests have since the beginning of the week flooded Lagos and Abuja against SARS which has been involved in indiscriminate arrests, harassments and killings.
