Gunmen kidnap appeal court judge in Edo, kill police escort

Gunmen have kidnapped Justice Chioma Nwosu of the Court of Appeal, Edo division.

Police orderly accompanying the judge, A. I. Momoh, was shot dead by the gunmen.

The judge was said to have been trailed from Ramat Park end of the Benin-Agbor road.

Her vehicle was intercepted around Christ Chosen Church of God International.

Edo police spokesman, Chidi Nwabuzor, has confirmed the incident.

“The incident occurred today at about 11:30 am, along Benin-Agbor expressway, by Christ Chosen Church of God International.

“The victim, Justice Chioma Nwosu was attacked, while the police orderly attached to her, Inspector A. I. Momoh, was murdered and the driver of the vehicle severely injured and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment,” he said.

Mr Nwabuzor said the police are investigating the kidnap, assuring that the judge would be rescued unhurt.
