Gunmen disrespecting traditional institutions in Ekiti — Adeboye

Pastor Enoch Adeboye

General overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye has condemned rising attacks on monarchs in Ekiti State.

Adeboye visited Ekiti on Saturday to ordain about 1,000 RCCG pastors. He also met with the state governor Kayode Fayemi at the Government House in Ado-Ekiti.

Adeboye said the attacks on monarchs was “flagrant disrespect” to traditional institution.

“It is condemnable the flagrant disrespect to our traditional institution in Ekiti State in recent time by gunmen,” he said.

His statement followed attacks on two traditional rulers in Ekiti within six days – the Elewu of Ewu Ekiti Oba Adetutu Ajayi was waylaid and shot, but escaped being kidnapped penultimate Friday while the Obadu of Ilemeso Ekiti Oba David Oyewumi was abducted in his palace on Thursday and his whereabouts remain unknown.

Adeboye said he had committed himself in “fighting the battle for the soul of the nation spiritually,” urging political leaders not to relegate the power of God to the background in their activities and policies.

Responding, Fayemi said: “We need prayers, we need a lot of help. We pray that God will continue to be good to us and heal the land and in a moment, all of us will have testimony to the good works of the Lord.”
