Gary Cahill thanks Chelsea fans in farewell message

Chelsea footballer, Gary Cahill, has thanked fans of the club for giving him a fond farewell after his appearance in their Sunday match against Watford.

The 33-year-old expressed his gratitude for the ovation in a message released on Monday.

“It was nice to be able to say thank you to the fans, it was a great moment for me to get out there and say goodbye and just thank the supporters for the great career I have had here of mostly ups. It was been fantastic.

“It was been a fantastic success. I appreciate the club because they have given me the platform to go out and perform at the highest level and challenge for these trophies, and we have been good enough over the years to win them. The memories will stay with me and it was a nice moment at the end of the game,” he said.

He also confirmed that his appearance against Watford was probably his last in a Chelsea shirt.

Earlier on Sunday, Gary Cahill had made headlines for comments he made in an interview with the Telegraph.

He said that it was difficult to respect Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri, after a season where he had barely played any football.

Prior to Sunday’s cameo appearance, he had only played 21 minutes in the league all season long.
