Schools in Lagos State will resume the third term academic session as scheduled on Monday, April 11, a statement by Assistant Director of Public Affairs, Ministry of Education, Adesegun Ogundeji, confirmed on Saturday.

“Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule re- emphasised this fact against the backdrop of insinuations and rumours that the resumption date has been postponed,” the statement said.

Ogundeji said the ministry   recognised the stress associated with the current fuel scarcity and its attendant consequences, but higher premium, Adebule noted, must be placed on the development of the leaders of tomorrow.

The deputy governor therefore appealed to parents to look beyond the present situation and encourage the children to face their future with renewed vigour as the call for a shift in the resumption date will only distort the academic calendar.

“She urged proprietors of private schools, head teachers/ principals of public schools to do everything humanly possible to see that the school calendar runs uninterrupted,” the statement concluded.
