FRSC seeks collaboration with Benue Assembly on road safety

The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC) Benue Command, Corps Commander Aliyu Baba, has appealed for collaboration with the Benue Assembly in the management of road safety in the state.

Baba, who made the appeal when he led other officers of the corps on a courtesy visit to the Speaker, Mr Titus Uba on Wednesday in Makurdi, said that the collaboration would help to minimise accident on roads.

The Commander told the Speaker that the Corps was ready to grant him honorary Special Marshall and opportunity to train Assembly drivers on how to drive in a convoy, to prevent accident.

Baba further appealed to the speaker to prevail on relevant authorities to provide ambulances to ease efforts of the corps in responding to accident victims in the state.

He also appealed to the ninth Assembly to revisit the State Traffic Agency Bill and ensure its passage.

According to him, the bill has enormous benefits to the people of the state, especially in the creation of employment.

Responding, the speaker decried incessant road accident on Nigerian roads and called for strengthening of the road safety management to minimise accident across the country.

Uba pledged the commitment of the ninth Assembly toward passing the bill seeking to provide for road traffic management and make provision for road traffic and vehicle inspection in Benue.

He also promised total collaboration of the Assembly to ensure safety on the roads in the state.

The speaker assured the corps that the House would take its request to the appropriate quarters, for the provision of ambulances to ease corps` effort to a road accident.
