Four injured in Abuja road accident

Four persons are receiving treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja, after sustaining injuries in an auto accident involving a Peugeot 407 and two painted Abuja taxis.

Cpl Atoo Akaana, an Investigation Police Officer attached to the Wuse Zone 3 Police Station, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Saturday that the accident occurred around 6.30am along Wuse Market, FCT.

Akaana said the Peugeot 407 which was coming from the Mabushi expressway to Wuse, lost control before the bridge close to the market and hit two taxis that were wrongly parked on the road.

He said the four persons rushed to the hospital sustained various degrees of injuries.

“I have called officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps to come and evacuate the vehicles,” he said.

Mrs Susan Ajenge, the FCT Sector Commander of FRSC, told NAN that the corps had received an emergency call informing them of the accident, but that they had not been given the name of the location of the accident.

Ajenge said the corps was therefore making efforts to locate the scene of the accident in order to deploy officers there.

A NAN correspondent who visited the scene of the accident reports that the vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged, with blood splashed at the scene.
