Former Ohanaeze Ndigbo president Dozie Ikedife dies at 88

Former president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Dozie Ikedife has died.

Mr Ikedife died on Tuesday at 7pm at the age of 88 at his Nnewi residence according to his son Dozie Ikedife.

“He will be buried on Wednesday at 5pm in his compound,” Mr Ikedife said.

Imo State governor and chairman, Progressives Governors Forum Rochas Okorocha described Ikedife as a selfless leader who made sacrifices in the overall interest of the Igbo people and Nigeria.

Mr Okorocha said that when Ikedife was the president-general of Ohanaeze, he demonstrated high dose of exemplary leadership qualities to the acknowledgement and delight of both Igbos and none Igbos.

The governor regretted that Ikedife’s death came at a time his wisdom and wealth of experience both as a leader and a good Christian are mostly needed.

Okorocha extended his condolences to the Ohanaeze president Nnia Nwodo, his team and the family of the late patriarch.
