One of Africa’s richest women, Folorunso Alakija, has disowned several fake Facebook accounts created in her name.

In a post on Instagram on Thursday, Mrs Alakija advised the public against falling prey to fraudsters.

“My attention has been drawn to a number of fake Facebook accounts, groups and pages claiming to give false recruitment to the public. Please be aware that such accounts were created for the purpose of impersonating me with the masked intention of deceiving unsuspecting people online,” she wrote.

“I would like to state that this is my ONLY Facebook account @ALAKIJAOFFICIAL. As such, any other accounts outside this are not mine. Please bear in mind that my social media accounts including Instagram and Twitter are ALL verified.

“Please take note of these accounts; do not be deceived by these fraudsters or give any of your money to them. Thank you!”

Alakija’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts are all verified.

The billionaire and her husband, Modupe, recently donated N1 billion to support the fight against the coronavirus in the country.
