Lateefat Gbajabiamila, mother of Femi Gbajabiamila, on Tuesday prayed for Barakat Odunuga-Bakare during a meeting in Surulere, Lagos.

Mrs Gbajabiamila, founder of the Converge of the People Foundation (C.O.P), offered prayers for Mrs Odunuga-Bakare as she continues consultations ahead of her bid to represent Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

“God put you in this position. You will not make a mistake. You shall not misstep. You’ll not eat wrong. Worldly people will not disappoint you. God will increase your children. God will teach you. God will grant you utterance. God will hear your prayers. Those that want to be your enemies, God will soften their hearts. Your children will exceed you,” the 96-year-old prayed.

Members of the Converge of the People Foundation (C.O.P) declared support for Odunuga-Bakare at the meeting.

She also met with youths in Surulere on Monday, where she discussed their needs and expectations and shared her plans.

Odunuga-Bakare is a lawyer qualified to practice in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. She began her political career as a councillor in Ward E1 and later served as special adviser to Lagos State governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

She is seeking the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Surulere Constituency I, currently represented by Desmond Elliot, who has held the seat since 2015.

Barakat Odunuga-Bakare had earlier presented her nomination forms to Femi Gbajabiamila, chief of staff to President Bola Tinubu.

She has also received backing from some party stakeholders in Surulere, including Fuad Oki, who supported her bid alongside that of Fuad Laguda for the House of Representatives seat in the area.
