Femi Branch, Ibrahim Chatta, others to star in first ever London stage play

Femi Branch

Actors Femi Branch, Ibrahim Chatta, Ronke Oshodi Oke, Akin Lewis and Taiwo Hassan are set to star together for the first time in a stage play in London.

The play, titled Throne of Ashes, centres on the story of Old Oyo, exploring power struggles, tradition and leadership within the ancient empire. The production is expected to attract theatre lovers and members of the African diaspora eager to see familiar screen faces perform live.

Organisers say the London performances will mark the start of an international tour. After London, the play will move to Canada and the United States before returning to Nigeria later in the year.

Throne of Ashes is performed in English and highlights a key period in Yoruba history. The production forms part of efforts to showcase African stage stories to wider audiences through live theatre.

The London shows are scheduled for February 2026, with tickets available ahead of the performances.
