A female suicide bomber attacked the Kano State Polytechnic today in the latest bomb incident in the ancient city.

According to sources, students of the ivory tower were in the process of checking their results when the explosion occurred.

The Kano State Police command has had its hand full since the last weekend, with at least four bomb incidents reported to have killed several residents in different locations.

There are conflicting official figures of the dead.

The Nigeria Police later said three persons died in the explosion.

The police, in a post on its Facebook and Twitter handles, also said seven persons were injured in the incident.

The police said those targeted by the female suicide bomber were students checking their call up list for the National Youth Service Corps scheme at the Central Administration Building of Kano State Polytechnic.

Coordinator of the National Information Centre and Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Mike Omeri, however said in a statement that “six persons were killed.”
