Fela’s daughter Motunrayo Kuti gets married

Motunrayo Anikulapo-Kuti daughter of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti has gotten married to her partner of seven years.

The 41-year-old posted photos of the court wedding on Instagram on Friday.

“It’s only God. Today Na Today o,” she captioned the photos.

Her sister Yeni Kuti attended the event as well as other family members and friends.

Yeni shared a video of the traditional wedding on Friday.

In a video she shared earlier, Motunrayo said that she never knew it will take her this long to get married but God did not disappoint her.

She wrote: “See me ooo Mrs M.A.K Juwon Bakare. For my entire life, I never knew it will take me this long but God never disappoints. I love my husband but most importantly my husband loves and adores me. It’s official oo!”

The management of the New Afrika Shrine also congratulated the couple.

“The management and staff of the New Afrika Shrine congratulate/celebrate with Mr and Mrs Juwon Bakare We wish Juwon and Motunrayo marital bliss. Arararara,” the post read.

Like her siblings, Motunrayo is an entertainer. She is the CEO of Ifeniomous Entertainment, a record label that she named after her daughter Ifeniola.

Her mother, Damiregba, was one of the 27 women who got married to Fela in 1978.
