Former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has promised to put the 9-year-old boy, Joseph Opara, who appeared in viral videos entertaining potential customers with Christian songs on a monthly allowance structure.

Mr Fani-Kayode made the commitment in a Twitter thread on Friday as he shared a video of N250,000 being handed to the father of the boy on his behalf.

Opara was seen in viral videos hawking coconut and singing to the amazement of the public.

“Again there will be no more street hawking for him because I will also send him an allowance every month. His golden voice, which is his gift from God, and his obvious love and passion for the Lord has certainly made a way for him and his life will NEVER be the same again,” the ex-minister wrote.

Mr Fani-Kayode called on other “prominent personalities and public figures” who made similar pledges to honour them.

The former minister re-emphasised his stance of being responsible for the boy’s school fees up until the tertiary level.

Opara has said he intends to be a Catholic priest.

The young boy has also been adopted as a son by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma.
