Falz

Singer Falz and comedian-actor Mr Macaroni on Wednesday, led a car procession at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos to mark the first anniversary of the #EndSARS protest.

Falz who live-streamed the protest on Wednesday posted the video on Instagram. In the video, protesters are seen in buses chanting the words “EndSARS, EndSARS “.

In a Twitter post on Wednesday Falz wrote: “Final run. We head back home straight, Let’s keep it peaceful.”

Mr Macaroni who had vowed to proceed with the protest in spite of the threat issued by the Lagos State commissioner of police, also live-streamed the protest. In the video, the comedian stated that the reason for the protest has been achieved. He also said that protesters should continue to ensure their safety by walking in groups and looking out for one another.

African China’s hit song ‘Mr President’ played in the background of the video as the protest continued.

As the video live-streamed, well-meaning Nigerians wrote words of encouragement to the protesters, others prayed that those who died during the protest would be avenged.

The #EndSARS memorial protest is in remembrance of those who lost their lives after security forces opened fire at unarmed protesters at Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos.

Mr Macaroni was among those arrested during the #OccupyLekki protest back in February and has continued to speak on the inadequacies of the government.
