Fake journalists arrested after requesting money from Timipre Sylva

Police have arrested three fake journalists on the premises of the National Assembly.

Balarabe Umar, Joseph Andor, and Ibrahim Bello were arrested on Thursday shortly after the appearance of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, before the joint Senate and House of Representatives’ Committees on Petroleum.

Sylva was at the National Assembly for his budget defence session held at Room 028, New Wing, House of Representatives.

After the minister had addressed the media, the suspects posed as journalists and requested money from him.

When attempts were made to stop them, the suspects threatened to attack journalists, forcing members of the National Assembly press corps to invite the sergeants-at-arms and divisional police officer who arrested the suspects.

FCT police spokesman, Anjuguri Manzah, also confirmed the arrest.
