Former presidential candidate, Oby Ezekwesili, and broadcast journalist, Kadaria Ahmed, have both paid tributes to the late Nigerian-born Canadian professor and writer, Prof. Pius Adesanmi.

The literary icon was among 149 passengers who died on March 10, 2019, when an Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET302 from Addis Ababa heading to Nairobi in Kenya crashed.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Mrs Ezekwesili said she missed Adesanmi ‘so much’.

“Miss you so much, Piu. I designed a gap-filler in my mind over the last year of your absence. I call it my “This-is-what-Piu-would-have-said-on-this” roll play. It is an extremely poor substitute for you, dearest brother and friend,” she said.

Ms Ahmed said on Twitter that she could not believe one year had passed since the incident, adding that she was comforted that his life was well-lived.

“My brother, my friend, speaker of truth to power, lover of Nigeria, the man who called bullshit when he saw it, with wit & humour, humane &good #PiusAdesanmi. I cannot believe it is a year already. We miss you. Comforted by the fact that yours was a life well Rest in peace my friend,” she said.

Adesanmi, who was born on February 27, 1972, was laid to rest in Ottawa, Canada on October 26, 2019.
