Ex-Speaker Ghali Na’Abba dies at 65

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives Ghali Na’Abba has died aged 65 in Abuja.

The deceased’s aide Ahmed Lawal disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Kano.

He said the former speaker died in the early hours of Wednesday at the National Hospital, Abuja.

Na’Abba emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate in the April 1999 National Assembly election in Kano Municipal Federal Constituency of Kano State.

“We are currently making arrangements to transport the corpse to Kano for burial today,” Lawal said.

Na’Abba was born into the family of Umar Na’Abba, a businessman in Tudun Wada, Kano City, Kano Municipal Local Government on September 27, 1958.

His father was a firm disciplinarian and an Islamic scholar. His father is said to have taught him virtues of hard work, entrepreneurship, strong religious inclination, prudence and modesty.

Na’Abba left behind one wife, 10 children and three grandchildren.
