EtiOsaDecides: Banky W tackles Obanikoro’s son in House of Reps debate

Musician turned politician, Banky W, and son of a former minister of state for defence, Ibrahim Obanikoro, and three others have engaged one another in a live debate on Monday at the Civic Centre, Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, Victoria Island, Lagos.

They are contesting the House of Representatives election to represent Eti-Osa in Lagos.

Olubankole Wellington (Banky W) is of the Modern Democratic Party (MDP), while Ibrahim Obanikoro is of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The duo have been at each other’s neck since the start of the debate.

When asked to respond in pidgin if the job at the lower chambers be made a full time or part time job, Banky said: “We need people wey go enter govment wey go do overtime work with less pay.”

Mr Obanikoro said: “For Eti Osa alone we get over one million people wey dey live here so how you wan take represent over one million people part time?”

Others participating in the debate are Omotesho Bakare of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ferdinand Adimefe of Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN) and Tessy Owolabi of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

The debate is organised by Media Room Hub, an online media platform, in conjunction with BBC and Pulse Nigeria.
