Following the disappearance of the newly launched eNaira app from Google Playstore, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said the app is only undergoing an important upgrade.

The app went missing on Wednesday about 48 hours after it was launched.

CBN spokesman Osita Nwanisobi said on Thursday in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital at a CBN Fair for the southeast geo-political zone that the app’s disappearance was only temporary.

The fair was also held simultaneously in Abịa State.

Mr Nwanisobi said the app was taken down following glitches, adding that the app is expected back before the end of the day.

He assured that the app is safe as it relies on encryption technology with two-factor verification to make it difficult to be bridged.

He said users contributed to the temporary disappearance from Playstore.

According to him, the inability of many users to input their correct details while signing up on the app contributed to the glitches.

More than 100,000 downloads have been recorded since the launch of the digital currency.
