Election: Soldiers arrest journalist in Lagos

Funsho Arogundade, a journalist with TheNews/PM News, was arrested by soldiers in the Ipaja area of Lagos on Saturday for allegedly taking their pictures.

In a message posted on Facebook, Ekiti-born Arogundade lamented that “I was arrested at around 3:20pm by a team of military police at the PU 043A in Baruwa, Ipaja and was taken to their barracks at Command area of Ipaja for taking their pictures while in the midst of voters.

“They seized all my phones, bundled me into their truck and after two hours of verbal harassment and threat of making me regret daring to do my job by taking those pictures, I was allowed to go after convincing their senior officers that I had no malicious intention.”

His release came after the men in uniform made him delete all the pictures on his camera phone.
