Eight killed as gunmen attack Zamfara emir’s convoy

No fewer than eight people have been killed after gunmen attacked the convoy of the Emir of Kaura Namoda in Zamfara State Sanusi Muhammad.

Several others were injured in the attack along Zaria-Funtua highway at midnight Friday.

The emir was returning to Gusau from Abuja when the incident occurred.

An eyewitness who escaped said eight occupants of the vehicle, including the driver and three policemen, were all shot dead by the gunmen, adding that “the emir escaped unhurt”.

Zamfara police spokesman Mohammed Shehu has confirmed the incident.
