EFCC declares impeached Adamawa governor, Nyako, wanted

NyakoThe Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday declared former Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, wanted.

Also declared wanted is the ex-governor’s son, Abdul Aziz Murtala Nyako, a retired Naval officer.

A statement by EFCC’s head of media and publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, accuse both men of criminal conspiracy, stealing, abuse of office and money laundering.

Nyako, a former Chief of Naval Staff, was impeached as governor on July 15, 2014 by the Adamawa State House of Assembly over allegations of financial misconduct.

The whereabouts of 72-year-old, who had earlier defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), has since remained unknown.
