EFCC confirms arresting Bobrisky over abuse of naira at Eniola Ajao’s movie premiere

Bobrisky in EFCC custody

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye aka Bobrisky, over abuse of naira, spraying of naira notes and currency mutilation.

The arrest was confirmed in a statement shared on their official Instagram account on Thursday.

According to the statement, Bobrisky was invited following a report of him spraying and flaunting new naira notes at the premiere of Ajakaju: Beast of Two Worlds, produced by Eniola Ajao.

The statement read: “Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have commenced investigation of Idris Okuneye, a.k.a Bobrisky, for allegedly spraying Naira notes.

“The  EFCC had invited the 31-year-old following a video report of spraying and flaunting wads of new Naira notes at the premiere of a movie, Ajakaju, produced by Eniola Ajao, a Nollywood actress and producer, at Film One Circle Mall, Lekki, Lagos on March 24, 2024.

“Investigation also revealed that he had also committed the alleged offence at some other event centres and parties at different times.

“Following the invitation by the Commission, he arrived at the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC in the morning of Wednesday, April 4, 2024 for interrogation and volunteered his statements. He will soon be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.”

The controversial crossdresser made headlines when he was announced as the best-dressed female at the movie premiere on March 24.

The announcement was frowned upon by many who questioned why a crossdresser was awarded the best-dressed prize in female category.

Eniola who later apologised for awarding Bobrisky as best dressed female, on Tuesday, invited him to a cinema at Ikeja to promote her movie despite saying she regretted giving him the prize.
