Ebus-stop celebrates International Day of Families with Sweet Mouth Challenge

Eki Eboigbe Sweet Mouth Cooking Challenge for International Day of Families

Art and event consultancy firm, Entertainment Bus-Stop (Ebus-stop), is collaborating with the Lagos State Parks and Garden Agency (LASPARK) to celebrate the 2018 International Day of Families.

The International Day of Families is observed on May 15 every year.

To celebrate this year’s edition, Ebus-stop is engaging families residing in Lagos State to the Sweet Mouth Challenge 2018.

Families are encouraged to upload a two-minute video using the hashtag #MyKitchenMyCooking.

Five families whose entries are selected from all entries sent in will be hosted at Sweet Mouth Challenge at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island on Saturday, May 12 from 12noon to 5pm.

Winning families can only come with four members each.

Speaking on why her firm celebrates the International Day of Families, Ebus-stop founder, Eki Eboigbe, said the first reason is passion.

“I love and appreciate the fact that the family unit is the first platform of socialisation, which can make or mar any society, if not well applied,” Ms Eboigbe said.

“Secondly, it is out of concern. With the turmoil exploding globally, particularly in Nigeria, there is an urgent need to pay particular attention to the family unit.

“For example, my upbringing was community base, I grew up among different ethnic makeup and everybody played their role in moulding a better human person that I am today.

“Therefore, our objective is to reiterate the role, influence and place of the family in the development and growth of the society and the nation, promoting the family unit as the most effective place to instil lasting values in its members.”

The International Day of Families was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 1993 and reflects the importance the international community attaches to families.

The theme for 2018, ‘Families and inclusive Societies’ is designed to explore the role of families and family policies in advancing Sustainable Development Goal 16 in terms of promoting peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development.

Ebus-stop celebrated the 2016 and 2017 editions with picnic and youth talk shop respectively.
