President Goodluck Jonathan has summoned an emergency meeting with officials, in a bid to tackle the Ebola virus threat.

The meeting is to hold at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Jonathan is said to have cancelled a scheduled trip to Owerri, the Imo State capital, to chair the meeting.

One of those summoned to the meeting early on Friday was the Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu.

The first being a Liberian, Patrick Sawyer, and the nurse who treated him.

About 139 people are under surveillance in Africa’s most populous country as panic over the spread of the diseases heightens.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has warned against bathing with salt water as being circulated via SMS and the social media as a cure for Ebola, saying it will prosecute individuals who spread such false information.
