The secret police had faced resistance when it attempted to rearrest Mr Sowore on Friday at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Sowore was in court for his fundamental rights suit which he filed in November.

It, however, did not take long before stern-looking officers wielding guns overpowered the people and took Sowore away.

The security officials allowed Sowore to be driven to their office by his lawyer, Femi Falana, escorted by DSS vehicles.

The publisher of Sahara Reporters was released on Thursday night following an order by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu that he be released within 24 hours.

It is not yet known why Sowore was rearrested.
