The Department of State Services (DSS) on Friday attempted to rearrest the convener of RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore, and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare.

The secret police stormed the Federal High Court in Abuja and made attempts to rearrest Mr Sowore who was in court for his fundamental rights suit.

The drama started shortly after Justice Ijoema Ojukwu adjourned till February 11, 12 and 13 for definite hearing.

The incident prompted the judge to run into her chamber for safety.

Sowore, speaking with journalists, said the ploy of the security agency was to kill him.

The publisher of Sahara Reporters was released on Thursday night following an order by Justice Ojukwu that he be released within 24 hours.

Sowore had in November filed a suit against the DSS claiming N500 million as damages for his unlawful detention despite two courts giving orders for his release.

It is not clear why DSS officials attempted to rearrest Sowore.
