Actress Doris Ogala has been released from police custody after spending two days in detention, following her arrest on Saturday, December 20.

Doris walked free on Monday, and took to Instagram to thank those who advocated for her release, including human rights activist and politician Omoyele Sowore and social media commentator VeryDarkMan.

Doris’ arrest came amid a highly publicised dispute with Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of Grace Nation Liberation City, whom she had publicly accused of breaking a promise to marry her after years of a personal relationship.

Her legal team had issued a formal demand for N1 billion in damages, claiming emotional and reputational harm after the pastor’s recent wedding to another woman.

The incident reportedly occurred during a livestream, when police officers entered the actress’ residence. In the broadcast she could be heard confirming their presence, saying: “Yes, the police are in my house.”

Details of any official charges against Doris have not been made public, and both her representatives and police authorities have not released formal statements on the grounds for her detention. Supporters online, including comedian DeeOne, have urged Nigerians to pray for her wellbeing, saying concern remains for her mental and emotional state following recent events.
