Disu replaces Hundeyin with Anthony Placid as Force PRO

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Olatunji Disu has replaced Benjamin Hundeyin as the Force Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force with Deputy Commissioner of Police Anthony Placid.

The change was announced on Sunday in a statement issued at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Former PRO Hundeyin had served as the police spokesperson since September 2025.

He was appointed by former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun.

Placid joined the police in 1996 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police at the Nigeria Police Academy in Kano.

He was commissioned in August 1998.

He was born on December 2, 1970, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. He is from Mbiokporo Nsit in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.

Placid holds a degree in Geography and Regional Planning from the University of Uyo and a master’s degree in Law and Diplomacy from the University of Jos.

He also studied law at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

During his career, he served as Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa State and at the Police Staff College.

He also served as Chief of Training for the African Union Mission in Sudan and later as Head of Training and Development at the United Nations–African Union Mission in Darfur.

Other roles he held include Divisional Police Officer in Federal Housing Calabar, Bakassi, Uruan and Gembu and Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Robbery Unit in Kaduna State.

He also served as Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations) in Akwa Ibom and Kogi states and in the Intelligence Department in Abia State.

In December 2025, Placid completed the Senior Executive Course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies and was inducted as a Member of the National Institute.

Tunji Disu became Inspector-General of Police after his appointment by President Bola Tinubu.

He succeeded Egbetokun, who resigned from the position.
