Dino Melaye rejects offer to be Wada’s governorship campaign DG

Senator Dino Melaye has said that he has rejected an offer to be the director-general of the campaign council for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kogi, Musa Wada.

The Kogi West Senator said this in a tweet on Friday.

“Let me state categorically that I have turned down the position of Director-General of the PDP Kogi State Governorship Campaign Council,” the lawmaker said.

“I wish PDP all the best. When truth is a casualty there is chaos.”

Melaye lost the primary to Musa, younger brother of the state’s former governor, Idris Wada.

Musa polled 748 votes as winner of the primary. Abubakar Ibrahim came second with 710 votes, while Melaye came fourth, having scored 70 votes behind Idris Wada who came third with 345 votes.

Gunmen invaded the venue of the primary, Lokoja Confluence Stadium, on September 4.

According to reports, votes in eight out of the 10 ballot boxes had already been counted and sorted before the disruption by the gunmen.
