Comedian Ali Baba on Monday, sparked reactions on social media when he claimed he welcomed triplets with his 55-year-old wife Mary in February.
Ali Baba surprised his 1.1 million followers on Instagram with the announcement which he made on April Fool’s Day, leaving many in a state of confusion as they wondered if the comedian is still raising babies at 58.
In his post, the comedian claimed that he and Mary welcomed the triplets two months ago.
He wrote: “Mary and I are happy and overjoyed to welcome our 3 sons, Aaron, Aalexander, and Aandrew, into the Akpobome family. It’s been 2 months since they arrived, and as the days go by, we thank God Almighty for these 3 beautiful blessings.
“We also want to thank our sisters, brothers, friends, uncles, and aunties for all the support so far. We appreciate and thank you immensely for all your prayers, love, best wishes, and gifts.
“As we celebrate the essence of the Resurrection power in this period of Easter, we join our faith with yours and pray that things of joy will never be far from you.
“God will make all that needs to arise, to Arise in your favour in this Holy period of reawakening. On behalf of the Akpobomes, again, thank you.”
The comment section of the post was filled with mixed reactions from celebrities and fans. While some like actress Clarion Chukwurah and Pastor David Adeoye congratulated him, others like Alexx Ekubo laughed off the announcement.
“Congratulations….The LORD has favored you both. He watches over His own. May your joy in this special blessings continue to be full daily to The Glory of His Mighty Name. Amen,” Clarion wrote.
“Wow. Congratulations sir&ma. This is indeed the lord’s doing,” Pastor David added.
Alexx Ekubo who suspected that the announcement was an April Fool’s prank wrote: “Or Better still, Ancestor, let’s call them April 1st, April One & the last one will be April F.”
Like Ali Baba, other celebrities such as Mercy Aigbe, Kiekie and Nkechi Blessing also joked about welcoming babies on Monday, April 1 which was declared April Fool’s Day.
Some media reports subsequently claimed that the entertainer had welcomed triplets with his wife.
However, a fact check by QEDNG revealed that Ali Baba did not welcome triplets as reported. The funnyman only pulled a prank on the public to mark April Fool’s Day
The comedian has yet to clear the air at the time of filing this report.
Born Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, Ali Baba and his Mary got married in April 2006.
The couple has five children together, three girls and two boys.
