Damilola Adegbite speaks on failed marriage with Chris Attoh

Nollywood actress Damilola Adegbite has spoken about her failed marriage with fellow actor Chris Attoh.

The actress in a recent interview with Chude Jideonwo said that even though her marriage did not work out, she learnt a massive lesson from it.

According to the actress, loving someone alone is not enough to keep a marriage. She also stated that she does not regret her decision.

“My marriage didn’t work but I learnt a massive lesson from that experience and it is that love is not enough…when you meet someone you want to spend the rest of your life with, love is not enough for me it is done, the only regard I have for him now is that he is the father of my son, I don’t regret anything.

“Once a marriage doesn’t work, people see it as a bad thing but I have seen that not every marriage was ordained by God but made on decisions thought was right so divorce isn’t necessarily a bad thing in my own situation, I fought till the end…I was strong for as long as I could be strong so when the divorce came I knew I could handle it, it is life,” she said in parts.

Speaking further, the Tinsel star said that her son who recently turned seven have already started questioning the absence of his father.

She said:” When you have a child, well for me, the dynamics change, the things I say and do, he turned seven a few days ago and he won’t always be seven, the questions are already coming, why is daddy not here, my friends’ dad did this and all so I will rather let all the information later to him when he is old enough. It is hard to be able to strike a balance between the truth and what he needs to know now…he asks questions and it is hard to not be dishonest and at the same time not badmouth his father and reveal just enough, that is where the challenge is for me.

I find it as a responsibility I have chosen to carry 100% and I am enjoying it like now if I have to make some decisions, I will need to reach his dad. Initially, it was tough but now I’m riding with the waves.”

The movie stars got married in Accra, Ghana on February 14, 2015.

News broke in September 2017 that the marriage had crashed after Damilola deleted her husband’s surname from her social media accounts.

She also unfollowed him on Instagram, deleting all photos of him from her social media accounts.

Chris later confirmed in an interview with Bella Naija that the two had gone their separate ways but will always remain friends for the sake of their son Brian.
