Court remands Edo chief priest over encroachment on NTA property

An Evboriaria Magistrate Court has remanded Mr Nosa Osadolor, the Chief Priest of Aduwawa, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, Edo, in prison over alleged forceful encroachment on a landed property.

Osadolor was arraigned on a 10-count charge, including forceful encroachment on a property belonging to the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Benin.

The Prosecutor, Mr Peter Ugwuba, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Monday around Aduwawa area of Benin.

Ugwuba said the chief priest demolished the NTA station’s perimeter fence, and forcefully entered the premises with firearms, causing fear among the staff of the station.

The Magistrate, Mr T. O. Omoruyi, ordered that the accused by remanded in prison, pending the legal advice from the Department of Public Prosecution on the case.

Omoruyi adjourned the case till January 22, 2018, for mention.
