Court of Appeal sacks Abdulmumin Jibrin

Nigerian House of Representatives Member Abdulmumin Jibrin

The Court of Appeal in Kaduna has nullified the election of Kano lawmaker, Abdulmumin Jibrin, and ordered fresh elections in the constituency.

Justice Adejoje Adepoju ruled on Friday that the sack is necessitated by the nullification of elections in two local government areas of Kiru/Bebeji Constituency.

The court observed that the final result contained in Form EC (8)E as submitted for the constituency was mutilated.

Kano State Election Petition Tribunal had in December upheld Jibrin’s election and dismissed a petition by his major contender, Aliyu Datti of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Jibrin, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was the Director-General of Femi Gbajabiamila Campaign Organisation.
