The Kwara State Technical Committee on COVID-19 has confirmed two separate cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state.

A statement on Monday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, said one of them is the wife of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) patient, a UK returnee, who died last Thursday while the other is another UK returnee.

The statement said the state government received official confirmation of the test results from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Test Centre in Ibadan.

Mr Ajakaye said the government would address a news briefing on Tuesday to give details and further measures to be taken to tackle the virus.

Meanwhile, the NCDC has confirmed the cases in Kwara as part of six new cases across the country.
