Sterling BankA banker with Sterling Bank Plc, Mr Olasankanmi Akeem, was on Friday crushed to death by a commercial bus at the Dalemo Bus-Stop, Sango-Ota, in Ogun.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Akeem, a staff of the Sango-Ota branch of the bank and a father of four, was crushed to death at about 8:30 a.m. on his way to the office.

An eyewitness, Mr Aderanti Adeyemi, told NAN that a commercial bus with registration number FKJ-352 XN was coming from Sango-Ota and wanted to overtake a Lagos State Government-owned LagBus which was picking passengers on the road and in the process, crushed the victim to death.

Adeyemi, who also lives on Oluwalogbon Lane, Dalemo, Ogun, with the victim, attributed the accident to the impatience of the commercial bus driver.

“When the incident happened, we all rushed to the scene of the accident and on getting there, l discovered that it was somebody that lived on the same street with me,” he said.

Adeyemi said that the driver of the commercial bus who had absconded later reported himself at the Sango-Ota Police Station.

The eye witness added that the LagBus bus that caused the accident also ran away.

Adeyemi said that the victim had been buried in his residence at No. 1, Oluwalogbon Lane, according to Muslim rites.

A competent police source disclosed that the driver of the commercial bus had been detained for further investigation.
