It was excitement all the way at the University of Ilorin on Friday, November 14, as the Coke Studio season 2 campus concert brought all other activities to a halt, with stunning performances from Reminisce, Dammy Krane, Jaywon and Zeez.

Thousands of students defied the hot sun to pose for selfies beside the double decker Coke Studio bus and enjoy hit after hit performed live by the A-list music stars.

Brand Manager, Colas, Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited, Olufemi Ashipa, who also doubles as the Project Manager, Coke Studio Concerts, expressed delight at the success of the Ilorin outing, which was the eighth concert of Coke Studio Season 2.

“I am really impressed by the participation and enthusiasm of the students. Ilorin is renowned for its great musical tradition so we decided to give aspiring artistes from the university this opportunity to perform on stage with some of Nigeria’s best. This has totally exceeded our expectations,” he commented.

In the spirit of Coke Studio Concerts, the show commenced with a competition to select two up and coming artistes to perform with Dammy Krane and Reminisce.

400 level Library Science student, Ayeesha, came tops in the first round, trumping three other students to perform with the “Enterkraner” Dammy Krane, while Whalez, a 400 level student of Microbiology got a chance to get on stage with Reminisce.

The crowd went wild as Zeez opened the show with “Fokasibe” and “Bobby E”. Jaywon raised the tempo with “This Year”, “Angelina” and “Tana Wole” before Dammy Krane hit the stage with “My Dear”, “Ligali” “Sabi Dance” and “Amin”. The excitement peaked when Reminisce (aka Alaga Ibile) came on stage to perform “Kako bi Chicken”, “2Mussh” and “Quality”, drawing the curtain on the show with mega hit “Daddy”.

The Coke Studio Campus Concert was conceived as an extension of the televised Coke Studio Africa show which brings together artistes from all over the continent to create a new and authentically African sound from different genres and styles of music.

It has taken many of Nigeria’s biggest music artistes to eight major campuses including Lagos State Polytechnic, University of Benin, Abia State University, University of Lagos, Obafemi Awolowo University, University of Port Harcourt and CRUTECH.
