Chef Dammy joins culinary school nearly two years after announcing Guinness World Record comeback

Damilola Adeparusi aka Chef Dammy

Chef and former Guinness World Record contender Adeparusi Damilola, popularly known as Chef Dammy, has begun professional culinary training in Lagos.

The 25-year-old chef gained widespread recognition in 2023 after completing a 120-hour cook-a-thon in Ilupeju-Ekiti.

Though the attempt was not officially recognised by Guinness World Records, it captured nationwide attention.

She is now enrolled at the Hospitality Business School, marking a new phase in her culinary journey.

In a social media post on Tuesday, food critic Opeyemi shared a video of Chef Dammy in her chef’s uniform, hinting at a possible comeback.

Supporters also took to social media, with some suggesting she may be preparing for another cook-a-thon.

A user commented, “Told you all I’m supporting my fav Chef Dammy. She’s coming back for that world record.”

Another user declared, “Chef Dami is coming back.”

Another added, “I’m so happy for Chef Dammy. I hope she becomes something big and turns that shame into fame.”

Chef Dammy received notable recognition and rewards.

Doctor Ayo Arojo gifted her N500,000 and proposed a two-week cooking tour in the U.S. She also received endorsements from political and academic figures, including the speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye and FUOYE vice-chancellor Professor Abayomi Fasina.

In June 2023, she announced plans to attempt a 150-hour cook-a-thon, this time with the intention of registering the attempt with Guinness World Records.

Earlier this year, the directorate of Citizens’ Rights at the Ekiti State Ministry of Justice filed a lawsuit on her behalf against Pastor Jeremiah Adegoke and the Ekiti State Police Command, alleging violation of her rights during her previous cook-a-thon.

The suit sought N10 million in damages and a court order to prevent future harassment.
