CHAN 2016: Zambia beat Zimbabwe to top Group D

Zambia defeated Zimbabwe by a slim one goal margin on Tuesday to take hold of Group D at the 2016 African Championship in Rwanda.

Former Orlando Pirates man, Isaac Chansa, was on target for Chipolopolo in the 57th minute against the Warriors as Zambia moved to the top of the group.

In the day’s later game, Mali twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Uganda.

The Cranes went ahead via Joseph Ochaya after 14 minutes before Sékou Koïta pulled the Eagles level ten minutes later.

Farouk Miya put Uganda ahead just before half-time with a successful penalty-kick but Mali equalised again after an hour played through Hamidou Sinayoko.

Group A action will resume on Tuesday with tournament host, Rwanda, facing Gabon while Cote d’Ivoire lock horns with Morocco.

Rwanda currently top the group with three points, followed by Gabon and Morocco on one each – with the Ivoirians yet to get a point.
