An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Friday ordered that Pius Edu, a bursar at Christ Redeemer School Oworo be remanded in prison custody, pending legal advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Edu, 21, who resides at No. 55 Oworo Road, Oworonshoki in Lagos, is being charged for sexual assault.

Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O. Osunsemi, ordered that the case file be sent to the DPP for the advice.

Police prosecutor, Raphael Donny, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on October 15 at about 3.30 pm at No. 50 Oworo Road, Oworonshoki, Lagos.

He alleged that the accused tied the six-year-old girl’s mouth with a handkerchief and sexually assaulted her.

The offence, he said, contravened Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015, (Revised), which stipulates life imprisonment for offenders.

The magistrate adjourned the case until December 3.
