Grammy winner Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has apologised to his fans for showing up late at his much-anticipated concert in Lagos.

The singer’s concert themed ‘Lagos Loves Damini’ was scheduled to start at 7pm on Sunday, January 1 started around 3am on Monday, January 2.

On getting on the stage, Burna Boy mocked his fans accusing them of labeling him a murderer after a shooting incident between himself and a newly wedded couple at Obi Cubana’s club in Lagos last year.

He also cursed at them for mocking his mother for being Fela Kuti’s dancer.

However, in an Instagram post on Monday, January 2, the singer apologized to his fans for the disappointment, vowing that he wouldn’t perform in Lagos again despite his love for them.

He also blamed organisational structure for the delay and insisted that he wasn’t late for the concert.

The ‘Last Last’ singer wrote: “Lagos. I love you but I can’t do this again. The organisational structure and infrastructure is not there for the complexities of my audio and Production needs.

“Let’s be clear. I wasn’t late, my band wasn’t late. We pride ourselves on being highly professional especially without stagecraft. There were three options available to me; wait for audio to be fixed and delay the show, come out at 11pm as planned with no sound or call breach of contract and pull the plug.”

Speaking further, he said: “I know I can’t go all over the world and neglect my own people so I’m taking matters into my own hands! I’m gathering the troops to work on building world-class infrastructure in the Nigerian entertainment business.

“Investors and stakeholders, interested pls hit me up, we need to make some changes. I apologize to my fans for how hectic it was, thank you for staying and watching the storm with me. I commend my band for making lemonade with the worst lemons we’ve ever seen.”
