Buhari’s nephew Mamman Daura hospitalised as Shettima visits ex-president’s wife in London

Mamman Daura, nephew of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has been hospitalised in London. He is currently receiving treatment and is said to be recuperating.

Vice President Kashim Shettima visited Daura and other members of Buhari’s family in London on Monday, July 14. The visit followed the death of Buhari, who passed away in a London hospital the previous day.

Shettima met with Buhari’s widow, Aisha Buhari, and the former president’s children. The vice president is the head of the Federal Government delegation bringing Buhari’s body back to Nigeria.

A statement from the Office of the Vice President confirmed the visits. It was signed by Shettima’s media aide, Stanley Nkwocha.

“On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, upon arrival in London, met with and condoled with the family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari in London.

“The Vice President also visited the late President’s nephew, Malam Mamman Daura, who is recuperating in a London hospital,” the statement said.

Photos from the visit showed the vice president consoling members of the Buhari family.

The Federal Government delegation includes Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; and Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia.

Buhari will be buried on Tuesday, July 15 in Daura, Katsina State, according to Islamic rites.

He is survived by his wife, Aisha Buhari, and eight children.
