Budget watchdog, BudgIT, through its platform TrackaNG, has gone after Senator Oluremi Tinubu over her constituency projects.

In a tweet to Tinubu on Monday, TrackaNG requested for information on alleged N220 million she nominated in the 2018 budget to her constituency, Lagos Central Senatorial District.

“Dear Sen. @oluremitinubu, we are aware that the FG has released 50% funds to MDAs. Can you provide an update on the N220m projects you nominated in the 2018 budget to your constituency? Public funds must work for the people,” the tweet read.

In response Tuesday morning, Tinubu asked the agency to direct questions to the Federal Ministry of Education.

“I must reiterate that my office is in no way involved in release of funds or award of contracts. Please direct any other questions or requests for clarification to the Federal Ministry of Education,” she tweeted.

She also said that records from the ministry show that funds for 2018 budget were used to offset deficit for 2017 since only 50 per cent of funds were released in 2017.

“Accordingly, only 20% of the project will be implemented,” she said.

Tinubu added: “Sequel to request for implementation status of Zonal intervention Projects which I nominated in 2018, my office approached the Federal Ministry of Education where the project is domiciled.”
