UNILAG Senate elects Folasade Ogunsola acting VC

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Senate has elected Prof. Folasade Ogunsola as the institution’s acting vice-chancellor.

Ogunsola was the deputy vice-chancellor, development services until her election on Monday.

She got 135 of 167 votes cast by professors.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services) Prof. Ben Oghojafor got 31 votes while one vote was voided.

Chairman of the Senate Emergency Committee Prof. Chioma Agomo announced the result to reporters after the election.

Ogunsola according to her Wiki citation is a professor of medical microbiology with specialty in disease control, particularly HIV/AIDS.

Born in 1958, she is also an ex-provost of UNILAG College of Medicine and is reputed as being the first woman to occupy the position.

Ogunsola had been the deputy vice chancellor (development services) since 2017.
