EFCC chairman Bawa slumps at Abuja event

Abdulrasheed Bawa

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Abdulrasheed Bawa on Thursday slumped at an event at the State House, Abuja.

The EFCC boss was addressing dignitaries at the event organised by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) before the unfortunate incident.

He said his speech would have been lengthy baring the death of a senior EFCC official in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

On descending from the podium, he broke down and was rushed out of the auditorium.

Minister of communications and digital economy Prof Isa Pantami and other dignitaries immediately rushed to assist him.

President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Bawa, 40, head of the EFCC in February. Bawa replaced the disgraced Ibrahim Magu.
