The Department of State Services (DSS) has arraigned the convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore.

Mr Sowore was arraigned on Monday alongside his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare, before Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The DSS brought Sowore into the courtroom about the time the judge was making her entrance, causing commotion which forced the judge to return to the chambers.

Journalists were said to have resisted an order from security officials to leave the court for the trial.

The Federal Government is charging Sowore on seven counts of treason, money laundering, and cyberstalking President Muhammadu Buhari.

However, Justice Taiwo Taiwo had last Tuesday ordered that Sowore should be released from DSS custody immediately and handed over to his lawyer, Femi Falana, who is to produce him for arraignment whenever he is required.

Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters, has been in DSS custody since August 3 for allegedly calling for “revolution” through the protest that was scheduled for August 5.
