A faction of the Boko Haram believed to be the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) has killed three persons believed to be soldiers and a policeman.

Channels Television said it obtained a video on Monday where the killing was carried out by masked men.

The victims were reportedly captured at a fake checkpoint in Benisheikh, a village in Maiduguri, Borno State.

They were said to have flashed identity cards as they introduced themselves.

The police and army authorities have not responded to the video.

Before the killing, a masked man speaking in Hausa language was said to have threatened that the group would carry out ‘massive attacks’ on military formations on highways in the region.

“We are saying to the soldiers of Nigeria, we will never spare those fighting people practising the religion of Allah. Because of that, we shall attack your barracks, wallahi we shall block you on your roads. The story is, what you hear is not what you see; what lies ahead is tougher and uglier than this, Allahu Akbar,” he said.

Last week, ISWAP claimed that it abducted 14 persons, six of which were soldiers, two aid workers and six others.
